Alcohol and tobacco are among the most frequently used drugs in the world. These substances are seen not only in many forms of advertisement, but they are in practically every drugs store, supermarket, and gas station. They can not only be highly addictive, but also toxic to the body. In fact, tobacco and alcohol hold the highest death rate of any drug. For me, there are many external factors that keep me from drinking and smoking. As a young child I lost grandmother and uncle to tobacco and alcohol. My grandmother, Yoko, died of lung cancer due to second hand smoke before I had the chance to meet her. Right before her death, my uncle, Joey, died of an alcohol overdose. He had been an addict for many years before his death. Losing people that I wish I could have really known puts life into a different perspective. Seeing all the sorrow it has caused, I would never want to put anyone I love through that e. Fortunately, reframing smoking or drinking is not a grueling task for me. My body naturally works to keep me away from both. The smoke from tobacco gives me unbearable allergies causing me to sneeze and hyperventilate. After less than a minute of being surround by smoke, I am desperately gasping for air. I have had this same reaction my whole life. When I was a child, it was so awful that my other set of grandparents were force to stop smoking cigarettes in order for them to come near me. My body also keeps me from over consuming alcohol.
